CKEditor is a text editor to be used inside web pages. It's a WYSIWYG editor, which means that the text being edited on it looks as similar as possible to the results users have when publishing it. It brings to the web common editing features found on desktop editing applications like Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.
CKEditor is a "component" to be used inside web pages. With minimal programming knowledge requirements, you will be able to easily insert it inside your web sites, providing an advanced and easy to use tool to your users.
A web site is usually made by an "administration site" where authorized users can create the web site contents. Administration web sites are the most common places where CKEditor can be used. In these cases, instead of having plain text fields to write content, you can have a rich editor. Rich editor means richer content... and richer user experience.
